The Malta Jazz Festival is an annual event run by the Malta Council for Culture & the Arts. Since the first edition 13 years ago, the Festival has attracted the great names and aspiring talent of various jazz genres and has gained international renown for its unique blend of relaxed island charm and vibrant entertainment
Al Di Meola, Joe Zawinul, Tuck & Patti, Diana Krall, Chick Corea, Michel Petrucciani, Betty Carter, Mike Stern, Bill Evans, the Yellowjackets, the Brecker Brothers, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Charlie Haden, Tania Maria, Scott Henderson, Michel Tomatito, Michel Camilo are just some of the great names who have played in the Malta Jazz Festival. Several return to play here a second time.
The Malta Jazz Festival has one of the most spectacular locations of all jazz events. Staged below the floodlit bastions of Malta’s baroque capital, Valletta, and right by the waters of the Grand Harbour, the Malta Jazz Festival certainly has a spectacular location, described by Chick Korea as “a postcard”. All in all, Ta’ Liesse is a perfect location for one of the best jazz festivals on the summer circuit – three sultry evenings under a Mediterranean night sky tempered by the cool breeze over Grand Harbour.
World Music Festival – July 2004
Cisk Export was the main sponsor of Malta’s first World Music Festival which saw two nights of world music at lower Fort St Elmo by top international artists Mercan Dede (Istanbul) featuring Renzo Spiteri (Malta), DJ Arkin Allen (Montreal – Canada), Transglobal Underground (London) and Future World Funk (London).
Cisk Export in Berlin – January 2004
Cisk Export got the party started at the VIP Area of the Casino Club in Berlin.
The occasion? Paul Van Dyke’s birthday party – and Malta’s own top dance DJ Joseph Armani was also invited by the man himself to hit the decks.
